Smugglers.

 This is coolbert:

"I hereby certify, with respect to Colombia, that interdiction of aircraft reasonably suspected to be primarily engaged in illicit drug trafficking in that country's airspace is necessary, because of the extraordinary threat posed by illicit drug trafficking to the national security of that country," - - Donald Trump.

From the Russian Internet web site Sputnik this headline did startle me.

"Trump Says US Has Right to Interdict Aircraft in Columbia Airspace - White House"

"WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — President Donald Trump has issued a determination ordering the shooting down of any aircraft suspected of being involved in the smuggling of illegal drugs in the airspace of the nation of Columbia, a presidential memorandum released by the White House revealed."

AMERICAN WARPLANES CAN SHOOT DOWN PRIVATE AIRCRAFT IN COLOMBIAN AIRSPACE WITH IMPUNITY? IS THIS WHAT THAT HEADLINE SUGGESTS?

This however does not seem to be anything new. Is merely a reaffirmation of a rather old policy [since 2003 at least].

I guess the main question would be whether American warplanes have been given the OK for incursions into Colombian air space and shoot-down aircraft identified as smuggling drugs.

Sputnik is exaggerating? Trying to create and issue where there is not issue? I am not sure.

Nothing NEW here folks! Nothing to SEE folks! Move ALONG folks!

coolbert.
