Blackcurrent.

This is coolbert:

Came across this quite by accident and is germane to a much prior blog entry:

"Let there be light and there was light" - - Genesis 1:3

"An actual life instance, an occurrence of power being provided to a city from a ship docked and anchored, the power plant of a warship hooked to the electric grid in an emergency situation as deemed."

And thanks be to the submarine!

The British submarine HMS M3 during a time of crisis connected to the civilian electrical grid, providing power for essential services:

"From 9 May to 14 May 1926, along with HMS K26 and HMS L23, M3was used to help supply electricity to the Royal Victoria Dock, Royal Albert Dock and  King George V Dock in London, during the General Strike of 1926 in an action named Operation Blackcurrent. M3 alone kept four meat cold stores, two cranes, and many important pumps running."

Diesel engines running, turning a dynamo, that dynamo generating electricity and connected to the civilian power grid.

YEOMAN SERVICE DURING PEACETIME! SUCH A THING COULD BE DONE NOW?

If you are an American submariner let me hear from you on this one!
